Support the War on Hunger by Dining Out in Auburn!

On Tuesday, eat at Bizilla's Cafe on College Street in downtown Auburn between 11 AM and 9 PM. A percentage of profits from the day will be donated directly on the War on Hunger.

On Wednesday, eat at Chick-fil-a on Magnolia Avenue between 5 PM and 9 PM. Once again, a percentage of profits will go to the War on Hunger.

This is a simple, easy way to contribute during Hunger Week! Spread the word.

Detailed List of Hunger Week Activities!

Monday, October 11:
  • Beat Bama Food Drive Kick-Off at the Athletic Complex at 1:45pm
    • This is the 17th Annual Beat Bama Food Drive kick-off! All students are encouraged to attend this event featuring guest speaker Coach Nell Fortner, the Auburn Women's Basketball coach. Please bring as many cans as you can to the kick off!
  • The Science of Basic Needs presented by COSAM on the science center concourse all week from 9am-1pm
    • Students will have the opportunity to learn about different “appropriate technologies” including water filters and the “leaf for life” program
  • Committee of 19 Information Table on the Haley Center Concourse from 9am-2pm
  • Interclass Coin Drop Competition between all four pharmacy class in the Pharmacy School Building
    • Interclass coin drop competition between all 4 pharmacy classes lasting all week with the final count and winning class announced on Friday evening. Last year we raised ~$1200 in just one week from pocket change and are hoping to see similar results this year!
Tuesday, October 12:
  • Lunch Line Documentary Screening from 6:30-8:30pm in Lowder 113A
    • A screening of the film Lunch Line; speakers Dr. Claire Zizza and representatives from the Alabama Poverty Project; Come to learn more about the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, be inspired to create change, engage with other interested students and faculty, and learn how you can get more involved with social issues on Auburn’s campus
    • Bring canned goods to donate to the Beat Bama Food Drive!
  • Bracelet and Necklace Sale  in Spidle Hall Lobby from 9am-2pm
    • Students will have a chance to either make their own, or buy one that we have made in advance.
  • Think Outside the Box: Creative Solutions to Fight Hunger from 10am-2pm on the Haley Center Concourse
    • Come learn and see how bugs and leaves can help fight world hunger.  Also, come see some simple designs that can have a major impact on the lives of impoverished people around the world.
  • The Science of Basic Needs presented by COSAM on the science center concourse all week from 9am-1pm
  • Committee of 19 Information Table on the Haley Center Concourse from 9am-2pm
  • “Growing a Clean Energy Industry” Sustainability Lecture at 12:00 noon in the 3rd Floor Ballroom of the New Student Center
    • Come see Guest Lecturer is Mr. Friedo Dielemann
  • Interclass Coin Drop Competition between all four pharmacy class in the Pharmacy School Building
  • Eat at Bizilia’s CafĂ© in downtown Auburn between 11am and 9pm, where the restaurant will donate a percentage of their profits from the day to the War on Hunger
Wednesday, October 13:
  • Think Outside the Box: Creative Solutions to Fight Hunger from 10am-2pm on the Haley Center Concourse
  • Bracelet and Necklace Sale  in Spidle Hall Lobby from 9am-2pm
  • The Science of Basic Needs presented by COSAM on the science center concourse all week from 9am-1pm
  • Committee of 19 Information Table on the Haley Center Concourse from 9am-2pm
  • Mocha Club Information Table and T-Shirt Sales on the Haley Center Concourse from 10am-1pm
  • Music Event  on Cater Lawn from 5-8pm featuring five bands powered by renewable energy (for lights, etc.)
  • Interclass Coin Drop Competition between all four pharmacy class in the Pharmacy School Building
  • Eat at Chick-fil-A on Magnolia ALL DAY and they will donate a percentage of profits to the War on Hunger
Thursday, October 14:
  • Beat Hunger Bash at the Sigma Chi Fraternity House 7:00- 9:00PM
    • There will be live music, free food, and a heated grill-off competition with the winners being announced at the Auburn vs. Arkansas football game!  Got grilling skills? Come see if your Student Organization is worthy of being named “Auburn’s Next Top Grill Masters!”
o   Each student who attends the event must bring two (2) non-perishable food items (i.e. canned goods) which will go toward the Beat Bama Food Drive and benefit the East Alabama Food Bank
o   Spirit points awarded
  • ISO Peace Dinner in the AUSC Ballroom AT 6pm
    • Reinvent the Gourmet in you. Taste the delicacies from different parts of the world. Admission is free if you bring canned goods to support the Beat Bama Food Drive. Even spare change is most appreciated- EVERY PENNY COUNTS!
  • Kroger Food Drive benefitting the East Alabama Food Bank at the Kroger on Dean Road in Auburn from 12pm-5pm
    • Please come by and pick up some extra items while you shop that will be donated to the East Alabama Food Bank. A suggested shopping list will be provided.

  • Volunteer with Campus Kitchens
    • Food prep is at 7:30am in the Arena Kitchen, and serving will begin at 9am at AUMC Food Pantry
  • Kroger Food Drive benefitting the East Alabama Food Bank at the Kroger in Tiger Town from 1pm-5pm
    • Please come by and pick up some extra items while you shop that will be donated to the East Alabama Food Bank. A suggested shopping list will be provided.

  • World Food Day
  • Sustainable Tailgate on the green space next to the student center hosted by the Division of Student Affairs with the Office of Sustainability and the Committee of 19 featuring alternative energy sources and technologies, local and organic foods, and much more!
  • Auburn vs. Arkansas Football Game Committee of 19 Representatives to be announced on football field to promote the War on Hunger Initiative on Auburn University’s campus.
